What does The Pearlygate Network™ do?
We produce interfaith music, video film, radio, television - as well as other emerging media to promote education, health and community. We focus upon shared, uplifting faith tenets that inspire greater coexistence and peace.
We strive to be as inclusive as possible - also welcoming those who practice no formal spirituality!
What is our overall goal?
It boils down to a simple question: what kind of spiritual world would we like to leave for our children?
Our
efforts center on the three primary concepts of encouraging peace by spiritual
communities, peace between spiritual communities, and peace towards spiritual
communities.
Spiritual communities can be a vital resource with which to help foster peace - or fuel deadly conflict and tragedy. Through our efforts we intend to make faith a significant part of peace progress world wide.
Will I have to change my beliefs to participate?
Individuals do not have to compromise their faith in order to support our efforts, but those that practice violence will be challenged by our program.
And of course individuals who do not practice any sort of "formal spirituality" are very welcome to participate in our efforts as well!
Is this a Christian organization?
The Pearlygate Network had a Gospel music origin, but is now solidly interfaith. We do not have a formal statement of faith. Our staff and associates are from many different faiths and cultures around the world.
We strongly respect an individual's right to believe what they wish. We also support respectful exchange of faith ideas such as contemporary missions work. This program may be somewhat challenging for adamant supporters of a particular faith.
We strongly encourage you to maintain dialogue and patient confrontation of violent individuals and groups within your own particular faith areas.
(Note to Christians inquiring about Matthew 10:34 - we refer to Matthew 5:9 for Biblical foundation of our peace promotion efforts)
How and when did we start?
Created in 1997 to promote Gospel music via the Internet, Robert W. Dull and his father, the late Roscoe Wharton (both pictured right), established The Pearlygate Network.
Rob currently serves as President and Managing Director of IT. Rob is an alum of Berklee College of Music and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with almost 3 decades of experience in the entertainment industry. He also consults in the field of computer networking and media production and instructs on the subject in Minneapolis with credentials such as Novell CNE and Microsoft MCDBA and MCSE.
Before his untimely death from cancer in 1999, Roscoe was a highly accomplished musician and producer, working with many dear friends and artists throughout his career including Patsy Cline, the notorious Roscoe and the Green Men, California session work in the 70's, and directing music for the legendary Louisiana Hayride television program in the 80's and early 90's.
It was Roscoe's dream towards the end of his life to help uplift communities via spiritual music. Through our ongoing efforts we hope to honor his memory.
