Artist Statement

Margaret L. Holmes

I believe we alter what we see the instant we take a photograph.
Not only do I attempt to alter the space of a given photograph with
Emulsion Transfers, Image Transfers, I hope to realign the context of
photographs with text, newspapers, and icons that add layering both
figuratively and literally.

It is the artist of today who must present reminders of the past and record
the culture of modern life as well as become the seer of today.
