 O  8 # 29 -- Hubert Wheeler interview:  Tells of grandfather Henry Wheeler who walked to Duluth on Military road from St. Paul, knew Merritt family in New York and said he could use their help here. Great grandmother Merritt came next year with husband and seven boys. Sept. 1856 “Gussie” was first white child born here.
   Henry was once a millionaire but lost it in panic of 1893 Henry’s home had first indoor plumbing in Duluth, Henry surveyed the route for the Dm and IR , died in 1905 when hit by a streetcar at age 85, had about 100,000.  Tug used a whistle as sonar to bring an injured man to the hospital in the fog., Sarah Wheeler was a Brewster from Mayflower family.  Various pictures of Henry and family.
