The Remedial Action Plan/Corrective Action Design for this site called for in situ treatment of soil and ground
water contaminated with gasoline. Ground water treatment was achieved through the use of an air sparging system
with a total of twenty-two (22) sparge points.

Soil treatment was done with a vapor recovery system. EBI placed new piping across the site to connect both
systems into a portable equipment trailer. We constructed the mechanical equipment, trailer and pipe headers during
the winter. Site activities were completed after frost left the ground in May 1996.

to 583' including a stream crossing.

EBI was contracted by Burlington Northern Railway to install an 8-inch HDPE water line at their taconite facility
in Superior, Wisconsin. A total of 3,800 feet of water line was installed by directional drilling. This was the
only practical method to install the line across wetlands as well as parallel to a taconite loading dock. Traditional
open cut methods could not have been used in these two areas.

feet of 10-inch HDPE water main. The drilling was the only option to cross the river and to reduce the project
cost by eliminating expensive restoration along US Highway 10.

both the 10-inch and the 4-inch were pulled in together. A total of 3,130' of each line size was installed.
