BIG IRON RIVER CROSSING ROCK BORE

EBI was contracted by Underground Specialists to conduct a crossing of the Big Iron River in Silver City, Michigan.
EBI had to install an 8-inch HDPE water main beneath the Bi Iron River over a distance of 480 feet. The subsurface
consisted of gray slate and basalt. EBI completed the drill out using a Storm 500. The hole was opened to a 12-inch
diameter and the product pipe was installed in four days. Much of the work was done during heavy lake effect snow
events and cold temperatures.

EBI was awarded a subcontract from West Dig Contractors for the installation by directional drilling of a 12-inch
HDPE transmission main and a 6-inch HDPE water main as part of the Transmission Main and Water Main Project in
Charter Township of Marquette, Michigan. The work consisted of installing 1,345 feet of 12-inch HDPE transmission
main in one shot across a wetland and 650 feet if 6-inch water main across a creek.
