Louis Dubla, Canosia Township, St. Louis County was honored Friday evening, November 22, 2002 as Minnesota Township Leader of the Year, in the category of “400 and Over Population.”

The finalist in this category was Phil Aulwes, Powers Township, Cass County.

In the category of “Under 400 Population” the winner was Chanyce Dahl, Morken Township, Clay County.

The plaque was presented by the Minnesota Association of Townships President, Loren Ingebretsen at the Association's annual conference held at the Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria, MN.

Louis Dubla was born in Canosia Township in 1935 and has lived his entire life in Canosia. He is the youngest of eleven children that grew up on the family farm. Louis still lives on the land his family farmed. He raised his family there, and now, his children are raising their families on this land. Louis is a retired truck driver and a retired Volunteer Fireman.

However, his love of work still finds him “on the road” in order to keep busy and help out his former “full time” employer. Louis started his township service career in the late 40’s helping out the guys “at the county tool house” work on the local township roads. Louis was elected Supervisor in 1970 and is currently completing his 11th term. He has been chairman of the board since 1993.
