The Canosia Township Recreation Facility experienced a steady amount of use
during 2002. The weather prevented us from making some needed repairs in late
2002, but hopefully 2003 will be more cooperative.
The soccer fields in Proctor weren't being used in 2002, so our soccer fields
were always in use. The spring of the year took care of the older children while
the fall of the year handled the younger children. We have approximately 300
children in the lower division from Pike Lake and Caribou Lake and 250 children
in the upper division from Proctor, Pike Lake, Caribou Lake and Munger.
The Pike Lake baseball teams had a good season. We have approximately 200
children playing baseball every spring from May to July. The front baseball
field held up well where the back baseball field needs a little work in 2003.
The tennis courts seemed to be busy throughout the summer. The tennis courts are
used occasionally by the Hermantown High School tennis team in the fall. On nice
days, the tennis courts are always in use.
The skating rink didn't see any use during the winter months. The weather in
2002 just wasn't cold enough to provide us with good ice conditions.
The playground received constant use throughout the year whether during recess
from school or in the summer months.
The basketball court has some pretty sturdy rims, however the poles weren't
nearly as strong as both poles bent from the base in the fall of the year. The
poles have been replaced with stronger steel and the rims will be replaced early
this spring. High school kids from a number of different areas used the
basketball court until the poles gave out.
The pavilion was used throughout the year as shelter from inclement weather or
as a place to have a picnic out of the sun.
The Canosia Township Recreational Facility experienced a significant amount of
use during 2002. We plan on making a number of improvements to the facility in
2003. If you have any suggestions please feel free to call:
