2007 consisted of 130 calls, the most that we have ever had
in the history of the Canosia Volunteer Fire Department.
The Canosia Fire Department has a new Assistant Fire Chief, Dan Forrest. Dan
has been our Medical Training Officer for the last four years – Welcome!
The Fire Department did extensive training throughout the year. All of the
new equipment that we received from our FEMA Grant was in the form of rescue
tools and we had to learn how to use them. We had an instructor come in for
training on their proper use. We had two training sessions where we cut up
cars to gain access to victims by cutting off the roof and rolling the
dashes – prior to extraction of the patient.
A spec was written for a new fire fighting pumper and in July the spec was
sent out for bids. After reviewing the bid, the Fire Department and the Town
Board chose to purchase another Pierce Pumper. Both of our trucks will be
identical in operation and layout to make it more familiar for the
firefighters to operate.
The Canosia Volunteer Fire Department has 20 very dedicated members and our
complement is 25, so we have room for anyone who is interested in joining!
You can contact any of the Firefighters for more information.
