8-11. In the week leading up to and including A16, a Washington warehouse was used as a "Convergence Center." Here activists from around the country constructed the numerous puppets and props for the various rallies and protests of A16. Here also the various events themselves were discussed and planned.


On April 15 the Convergence Center was raided by police and shut down. Activists were refused admittance so as to remove the puppets and props they had been working on. After a public outcry however, police allowed the "hostaged" puppets to be released.
