Scuffles broke out today at Heathrow Airport as record company men tried
to smuggle former pop star Dusty Springfield out of the airport without
being photographed.
Dusty arrived from Los Angeles to make a comeback after an absence of nearly
ten years. As she emerged from the customs hall, four record company men rushed
forward, grabbed her by the arm and dragged her past pressmen. And one
swore at a photographer. Flanked by her guards, the singer jumped a
barrier before being bundled in the back of a black Rolls-Royce.
Before being driven to a secret address, Dusty said: "It is good to be
home but I am frozen."
The record company men were trying to keep her "under cover" until a press
conference on Thursday.

Singer Dusty Springfield, the golden girl of the 60s, returned to Britain
yesterday . . . in a hail of four-letter words. Photographers clashed
with recording agents who tried to keep Dusty's arrival at Heathrow
Airport a secret.
But after scuffles and a few choice swear-words - Dusty was whisked away to
start her British pop comeback after a five-year break in California.
Dusty, who is now 36, was the mascara-eyed queen of the swinging 60s.
Year after year she was voted Britain's top female singer with hits like
"I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself".
