Minneapolis/Duluth, MN [March 27, 2006] – CP Telecom, Minnesota’s growing telecommunications and Internet provider, is pleased to announce the following key staff promotions and additions due to company growth and to further increase operational efficiencies with expanding telecommunications services at CP Telecom.

Troy Johnson has been promoted to Vice President of Operations & Engineering.

Johnson’s most recent position at CP Telecom was Director of Operations, Engineering and Development. He has shown great leadership, initiative, management and dedication since he joined CP Telecom over four years ago. He has been instrumental in expanding the company into a highly regarded telecommunications provider. Johnson has over 10 years of experience with Lucent Technologies/Bell Laboratories as a lead engineer and nearly six years at McLeodUSA where he engineered and implemented thirty-nine telephone switches and managed all database engineering personnel along with serving in various management roles. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from DeVry in Kansas City, MO and has completed all work for his Master’s degree in Computer Science from North Central College in Naperville, IL.

Trent Bonnstetter has been promoted to Director of Operations and Engineering.

Bonnstetter has been employed with CP Telecom since 2002 as Manager of Network Engineering and Operations. He has 21 years of telecommunications experience in both operations and engineering. Before coming to CP Telecom, Bonnstetter was Senior Manager of Network Engineering at McLeodUSA where he was responsible for the nine state western region. He has been involved with several start-up telecommunications companies including TelecomUSA, Onvoy and Ovation. Bonnstetter will continue to focus his efforts on CP Telecom’s Operation and Network design covering both hardware and systems.

Scott Shekels has been hired as Director of Data and Systems Engineering.

Shekels recently joined CP Telecom as Senior Network Engineer. In his new capacity, Shekels will utilize his leadership and technical skills to oversee the data and systems groups. Prior to joining CP Telecom, Shekels worked at McLeodUSA as a Data Network Manager where he designed and implemented the midwest wide area network (WAN), and as an IP Network Administrator at Onvoy. Most recently he developed a business to provide high-end firewalling and other security services. Shekels holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gustavus Adolphus College.

Christopher Sample has been hired as Supervisor of Telecom Operations and Engineering.

Sample has over ten years of telecom experience, previously as a lead install and repair technician at XO Communications and at McLeodUSA. He brings extensive experience from the engineering and installation of network equipment and services to customer side installations. Sample has expertise in fiber and fiber systems, power systems, cabling, switching, digital cross connect systems and other telecom network components.

Johnathon Westendorp has been hired as Senior Agent Manager.

Westendorp brings nearly 10 years of telecom, management and sales experience. In his new role, he will focus on developing new business, growing the independent agent network, identifying and fulfilling customer telecom needs and providing excellent customer support. Westendorp previously held senior account executive sales roles with XO Communications, Impact Group and McLeodUSA.
